Lunch & Learn: Talking to Your Children About Race with Dr. Tiffany Loggins

JOIN US FOR A FREE LUNCH & LEARN SESSION IN SUITE 140!

Session Description: Children start recognizing people by race as early as three months, though babies don't process race the same way teens or adults do. Even so, this shows that taking a colorblind stance on race sets up children to develop biases and unanswered questions about the world around them. In this health talk session, attendees will learn how to speak openly and truthfully about race with children and family. You will craft actionable steps to help children develop racial fluency, address implicit and explicit racial biases, and shape their understanding of systemic racism in an age-appropriate way.

Tiffany Loggins, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and mental health wellness speaker. She specializes in minority stress within BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, & People of Color) communities, eating disorders, and helping organizations with social responsibility by providing culturally sensitive programming to promote diversity and inclusion efforts.

Given her clinical experiences serving individuals with a wide variety of mental health concerns, within several university, hospital, and community-based settings, she intricately intertwines both a multicultural framework and evidenced-based approaches to cultivate a safe space of active learning, and help individuals illuminate new insights that accompany feelings of direction and purpose. She has taken her passion to help individuals to societal levels by developing and delivering psycho-educational talks and workshops to help both individuals and organizations acquire a toolbox of coping skills and healthy habits to improve their mental health and productivity, even in the midst of adversity.
